Britney Spears opened 2008 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night in LA, it was announced that Britney Spears would open the event on September 4, 2008. "Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love. I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday, the 25th anniversary of the VMAs. This is the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and it starts right now." said Spears.
Christina Aguilera performed her hit "Genie in a Bottle". Lil Wayne also performed at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards with Kid Rock "All Summer Long", Leona Lewis "DontGetIt (Misunderstood)" and T-Pain "Got Money".
